About us

WifOR is an independent economic research institute, which emerged as a spin-off from the Department of Financial and Economic Policies. TU Darmstadt and TU Berlin are official partners of WifOR. Founded in February 2009, the research institute is headed by Dr. Dennis A. Ostwald and Mr. Hans-Jürgen Raab.

The research that the institute focuses on are in particular - corruption prevention, economic feasibility studies, in labour market research as well as in the health care industry. Besides a strong empirical foundation as the basis of the diverse research activities, the visualisation of economic data is also in the foreground.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Bert Rürup, Prof. Dr. Werner Sesselmeier (University of Koblenz-Landau), Prof. Dr. Peter Buxmann (TU Darmstadt) and Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dirk Henke (TU Berlin) are members of the Scientific Advisory Board. Prof. Dr. Sesselmeier is an expert on labour issues and social security systems. Prof. Dr. Buxmann is an expert in information systems, supply chain management and software economics. Prof. Dr. Henke is an expert in finance and health economics.

The task of the Advisory Board is predominantly the evaluation of research quality.
